Background
Inception
2019 The Adopt-A-Skill program was born at St. Anne’s Secondary School in Ibadan. Recognizing the entrepreneurial potential among students, the initiative aimed to empower them with essential skills to shape their futures.
Milestone
2020 Following the success of the pilot program, Adopt-A-Skill expanded its reach to include additional schools within Ibadan. The program’s impact was evident as more students discovered their passions and talents through hands-on training and mentorship.
Growth
2021The program introduced new workshop tracks, including digital marketing, fashion design, and baking, attracting a diverse group of participants. The introduction of expert-led sessions and an exhibition event provided students with real-world experience and networking opportunities.
Expansion
2022 Adopt-A-Skill partnered with local businesses and organizations to offer internships and job placements for graduates of the program. This collaboration enhanced the practical learning experience and increased the program’s credibility within the community.
Milestone
2023 The program launched its first virtual masterclass, reaching participants beyond Ibadan and making the training accessible to a wider audience. The virtual format also allowed for the inclusion of international experts and trainers.
Current Year
2024 Adopt-A-Skill is now ready to take this beyond its initial roots and plant it firmly in the fertile ground of Atisbo Local Government, Tede, Oyo State, Nigeria. By nurturing young minds with entrepreneurial skills, we aim to cultivate a generation of self-made success stories.
The week-long program will be packed with workshops, training, and discussions designed to ignite the participants entrepreneurial spirit where they will learn valuable skills in areas like digital marketing, fashion, and baking. Experts will guide them through everything from building a brand to turning their passion into profit.
The week ends with a grand exhibition - their chance to showcase their talents and products to potential customers and investors. There will be a chance to network with fellow entrepreneurs and launch their path to success.
